Whether you are using Shortboards, Longboards or stand up paddle boards, the naming of the parts of the surfboard are the same: the nose, rails, deck, stringer, the tail and the leash plug. If you are a beginner, it is best to use softboards or what surfers call “foamies” due to its soft foam construction making the boards really flexible. This way, it is easier to catch a wave. It also has greater stability on the water so it is much easier to stand up.
