Oregon has a good base in making wine, recognized by most of the country for its top quality wines, comparable to the quality of most French wines. Pinot noir grapes grow best in the cooler regions of Oregon, but the grape is more profilic in the Burgundy grapevines of France.

The grapes of Pinot noir variety produce some of the most excellent wines, though it is hard to cultivate and maintain. So, what’s all this mean to you? The FAA believes, with the strict controls they put on a 141 school, you’ll learn faster and be fully trained in less time. At a 141 school you only need to put in 35 hours of flight time while at a 161 school you’ll need a minimum of 40 hours. That could save you a bit of money, but probably won’t since most students take just over 50 hours regardless of what type of school they attend.

Maybe this leads you to believe you need a 141 school to get the best flight training. Before you make a decision, interview several flight instructors. Maybe even invest in taking each out to lunch. You’ll get to know them a lot better and they’ll get a free meal, which helps since they don’t make what they should. Then pick someone you know you’re going to enjoy hanging around with.
