Cheap International Plane Tickets

Posted: under Travel.
Tags: Travel

by Mary Bush

When it comes to traveling internationally, you simply have to travel by plane, like when eating steak; you have to use a fork and a steak knife. They simply can’t do without each other. You could certainly try taking a boat to your destination; and if it’s far enough, it will only be the longest journey of your life. So you want to go on a vacation to a faraway country, but just don’t know how to get cheap international plane tickets? Well, you have come to the right place. This article will show you that it really isn’t hard to travel cheap internationally and you can definitely save a hole from burning in your pocket.

Firstly, with budget airlines becoming more popular as well as increasing the areas of flight in which they go travel to, you can certainly have a pick of quite a few budget airlines (depending on your country) and have an extensive range of countries to visit. The only drawback is that they don’t travel to really far countries, like from Singapore from New York.

Secondly, if you really want to travel cheap, you can keep track of a number of search engines and websites dedicated to sourcing for cheap international plane tickets. Just visit them on a regular basis and who knows? You might find a trip that actually caters to your needs.

Lastly, this is a secret that some people know, but most are rather ignorant to it. Lucky for you, this gem is revealed here! Let’s say you want to travel to Sydney, but the flight direct costs a bomb in your wallet, and after which blows a huge hole inside. If you want your flight to be short and have the money, by all means just go for it.

But if you want to save the money that can be spent on something else, this is the tip for you. Instead of just taking a direct flight, you could go to a minor state and take a domestic flight from there. You can save quite a large amount of money, hundreds at least. And you can do this with other international flights as well. Think of the money you could save!

Last Minute Airline Ticket

Posted: under Travel.
Tags: Travel

by Mary Bush

The price of airline tickets can sometimes be the bulk of your traveling expense. However if you are a flexible traveler, you may find it useful and cost effective to go online and look for a last minute airline ticket. There are a number of websites who offer such a service and most of the major airlines do as well. Purchasing a last minute airline ticket is the airline industry’s way of ensuring that they are flying as near to full flights as possible. They would much rather fill up the plane, even if it means selling the last few tickets for a discounted price. Flying the plane with empty seats is great for the passenger who gets the coveted 2 seats, but a source of lost income for the airline.

There are a few things that you must be willing to do if you are interested in a last minute airline ticket. First you have to be diligent in your search efforts. Obviously the airlines don’t want this to become the mainstream way of purchasing tickets, so you will need to poke around to various sites. Also, you have to be willing to travel at crazy times throughout the day and on any given day.

This method of purchasing tickets works much better when you are traveling to visit friends, for example versus traveling for a vacation. When you are booking a vacation and a hotel, you need for your flight to coincide with the reset of your travel arrangements, such as the days and nights you have booked your hotel. But if you are flying home to visit mom and dad, it doesn’t matter if you come in on Monday or Tuesday, or 12 noon or midnight.

Travelers who buy a last minute airline ticket are usually lone travelers as well, or an extremely flexible couple. You are most likely to find 1 ticket per flight available at the discount. If you are lucky enough to find two, you and your travel companion will most likely not be sitting together. This is a small price to pay though in exchange for cutting down on the expense of flying.

Overall, purchasing discounted tickets at the last minute from an airline is a fabulous way to save money on your travel expenses. If your travel plans don’t dictate a specific day and time that you arrive in your destination, I highly recommend this option. A little planning and a lot of flexibility will save you money better spent on the actual vacation!

Kansas Vacation - a taste of what makes Kansas special

Posted: under Travel.
Tags: Travel

by Penelope SanMateo

Ok, so you are now entering the state of Kansas and you are dreading the long, flat boring drive where there is nothing to see or do. Well, wake up and look around! Kansas travel has an extremely interesting history, beautiful prairielands, fantastic museums, cultural events and atrractions and the most wonderful people in the midwest! Going from the large cities like Kansas City to the litty bitty towns of Garnett you will find great people and interesting things to do and see.

When I tell you that you can visit the small towns it’s no joke. Kansas has a large number of towns under 1000 people. Take Selden for example. Here, according to the July 2007 report there is a population of 177. Even though there are small towns there is huge pride and friendliness so stop in and say hello. There is land enough to give you some space, views that go on for “ever” and history that will keep you interested for hours on end. Try your luck hunting the pheasants at one of the ranches or farms that take you out during the season.

Ghosts, goblins and scary homes, that’s what you can expect when you visit the “Most Haunted Town in Kansas.” Atchison not only takes pride in this title but they have the Haunted Atchison Trolley Tour in September and October to take visitors around to the different homes that are acclaimed to be haunted. You will ride on the 1880 AT&SF trolley while seeing houses such as the McIntreer Villa where lights in the tower go on and off and there is not electricity there, ghosts appear in the windows and in family photos. Hear the footsteps that are in rooms where there is no one and doors closing in rooms that are empty. Scary! The one hour tour will show you a number of homes in the community that are claimed to be haunted…come and find out all about them.

If you enjoy the unique you will enjoy Henry’s Sculpture Hill near Augusta. Here are an array of sculptures created from steel and/or found objects which will enchant you and entertain you. Since this is a private hill, the creator has stopped giving tours for now because of “maintenance, insurance, old age, and attitude, [but] serious buyers who are looking for original steel sculptures are welcome by appointment.” So, if you see something you want to buy, make sure you go and talk to him, otherwise, just look and leave him alone for now. How refreshing to have someone of his artistic talent be so brutally honest.

There are times in our lives when being in the Garden of Eden seems like it would be a fabulous way to live. Obviously Dinsmoor of Lucas, Kansas thought so too. Following the Civil War this retired school teacher spent his final 31 years building his Garden of Eden. The “log cabin” was built with limestone logs up to 27 ft long and put together just like a log house would be constructed. None of the windows or doors are the same size to give the house a unique appearance. He then went on to build his garden which contains 113 tons of concrete adn with limestone and tells the history of the world starting with its creation. He gave tours of his 11 room house for years and now, you can see it and enjoy the history even though he has been gone for years! The cost for the tour is just $6 for adults and $1 for children so it is an inexpensive break from traditional sites.

Manhattan and Junction City are the home of Fort Riley. Here you can experience the history of the past and see the current military strategies. You can tour the last cavalry training stables with its original cobblestone flooring which used to house 76 horses. Today it still houses horses for the Commanding General’s Mounted Color Guard where 20 head are ready for parade all the time. This facility was built in 1889. When you are through with this tour there are a number of others that will be just as interesting for you to see and enjoy.

Flat land right? How about the Gypsum Hills in central Kansas with their canyons, rolling hills, mesas, and buttes? That sure isn’t flat and boring! There are red cedar trees growing on the red land that is full of iron oxide so the land is actually red! Take the 42 mile drive from Coldwater to Medicine Lodge on the Gypsum Hills Scenic Byway and you will be surrounded by beauty. Now, when you are off the paved roads and back on the dirt roads keep in mind that it is open range area so watch for livestock. You don’t have to get off the paved roads, but it sure is fun if you do.

No one can say that those from Kansas don’t have a sense of humor. In the town of Canton there are two water towers, one Hot and one Cold. Now how many towns do you know that would do that? It’s great to know there is such a place in Kansas!

Top Reasons to Stay in a Chain Hotel

Posted: under Travel.
Tags: Travel

by katie George

Many people spend their vacation time, or nights away from home, in hotels and motels all across America and the world, sometime during each year. The choice of a hotel for them may depend on many different things.

It seems that the favorite hotels are those that are associated with a chain, that are located in many different cities in the U. S. and all across the world. Why do so many people prefer the chain hotels? Let’s think about some of the top reasons that people prefer these hotels.

First of all, chain hotels are much better known hotels. They are usually located near an interstate highway, or in the center of the downtown area. Always, they are located in the nicer part of the city. The service in this type of hotel is always a little better, and they go to greater lengths to make you comfortable, with certain amenities that are included along with the room that offers you rest.

If you make a habit of staying in chain hotels, another good thing that you will notice is that each of them in the same chain have the same amenities and have the same type of service. You can, thereby, pretty much know what to expect when you get to the place where you are going. In chain hotels you are usually able to book ahead if you know when you are going to arrive in the area, and have confidence that you will have a nice place to stay, when you arrive.

Accommodations are always as you expect. No one wants to choose a hotel room, get inside and realize that the bedding is not quite up to par and the room looks like it has just barely been cleaned since the last guest. Chain hotels must keep their rooms and bedding clean and up to par, because they are located in a lot of places, and if they are not careful to keep things clean, neat, and tidy it will ruin not only the local hotel’s reputation, but all the others in the chain. It would not take long for word to get out in every place where their hotels are located, and guests would begin to turn away from their hotels.

Amenities are another thing that people have come to appreciate from chain hotels. Hotels offer many different amenities including, but not limited to: 24 hour room service; flat screen TV’s, baby sitting; pet care; fitness centers; courtyards; hot tubs or saunas; early morning breakfasts, including cereals and bagels. Many have small, or perhaps not so small, rooms where you can sit down and have your breakfast items and drink your coffee, perhaps visiting with other hotel guests. Other amenities include, coffee makers, hair dryers, shampoos and conditioners, tissues, and perhaps even small refrigerators in the rooms. This makes for a convenient overnight stay.

In the busy world in which we live, many people enjoy the fact that most chain hotels have added WIFI internet service to their amenities. Many business people use their computers as they travel from one place to another, and it is very important for them that they have connections to the internet. Whether they use their computer for business or for pleasure, it is always nice to know that the service is there if it is needed.

There are many hotel chains in America and across the world. When traveling in the USA or abroad you can, more than likely, find your favorite one located somewhere in the city to which you travel. Anyone who travels quite frequently, has probably chosen a favorite hotel which offers the amenities that they most often use. Once you have chosen your favorite hotel, you can feel comfortable staying with that particular chain wherever you travel.

Most chain hotels, also, can be found online, and reservations can be made online. You can shop around for the best prices, and locate the hotel before you arrive at your destination, thereby saving you time and the trouble of driving around looking for it when you arrive at your location.

Chain hotels offer you the best accommodations for your money, and are always clean and ready to be occupied by you when you get to your location. Check out the various chains to discover what awaits you at your next night away from home.

What is in Orlando Florida?

Posted: under Travel.

by Chris Linch

Orlando Florida is probably the most popular city in central Florida. Orlando is the third largest metropolitan area right behind Miami and Tampa. The city is known for its many tourist attractions, which makes it a popular travel destination. Some of these attractions are Walt Disney World, Sea World, and Universal Studios. There are about 52 million tourists that travel to Orlando each year. The number of hotel rooms is second to that of Las Vegas.

The most famous tourist attraction is Walt Disney World which houses attractions within it like Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach and Downtown Disney. Walt Disney World is still the most visited attraction that exists in Orlando.

Another large park is Sea World. This is a zoological park that also contains some amusement and water park type attractions. There are many marine animal exhibits in the Sea World Park. The Universal Studios attractions include their City Walk and two theme parks, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure amusement park.

There are also 4 malls in Orlando. There is the Florida Mall, 250 stores, for sure the largest mall in Orlando. There is the Mall at the Millenia which has world famous department stores like Bloomingdales and Macy’s. There is also the Orlando Fashion Mall and Festival Bay Mall.

Orlando has several museums for those into art, science and history. The one I find most attractive is one that is actually a 50 acre garden with an assorment of plants. It includes an orchid house with tons of orchids, and a beautiful butterfly garden.

The largest part of the Orlando economy is tourism. Millions of visitors travel to the area every year. There is also a large convention industry in Orlando. There is a two million square foot convention center located in Orlando. The city competes strongly against Las Vegas and Chicago hosting nearly the most conventions.

Orlando is a wonderful tourist destination, where you can find a large array of things to do. It is also closely located to other popular cities in Florida as well as about an hour and a half from the beaches of the Atlantic like Cocoa Beach.

Tips for Renting a Holiday Villa in Spain

Posted: under Travel.
Tags: Travel

by Mary Bush

Today, Spain is still the number one holiday destination for many people who live in the UK. Now more than ever more people are choosing to rent holiday villas in Spain rather than staying in a hotel. This is because they have more choice of where they would like to stay and the cost of renting such property is much less, than it would be to stay in a hotel.

When it comes to finding the right villa for your holiday there are many disadvantages and advantages to be had from using an agent to find you the right one. Below we take a look at just what some of the advantages and disadvantages are.

1. Booking your holiday villa through an agent you will find that they can offer you a wide selection of different ones to choose from. Plus they will also be able to provide them in a number of different locations as well. All you have to do is tell them what it is you want and when and they should be able to find something that matches your requirements perfectly.

2. Another advantage is that many agents will offer to help arrange your flights and car hire also. This then makes the whole process of arranging your next holiday to Spain much simpler and easier to do.

3. Next any reputable agent will have an office or a representative close to where the property is and so can arrange to meet you at the property upon your arrival. This then means that they can show you exactly what is in the villa and exactly how everything works.

4. One of the biggest disadvantages to be had from using the services of an agent over finding your own holiday villa to rent is the fees. Many agents will also include a commission fee on to the actual rental price of the property in some cases it can be as much as or more than 25% of the rental charge. Unfortunately these are not always going to be the kinds of agents who offer their clients a great service and the necessary back up should any problems arise.

5. Another disadvantage to using an agent is that not always have they visited the property that you are considering renting. This also means that they are unable to provide you with any useful information about the area and what facilities are available to you locally.

Therefore if you are considering using an agent for booking any kinds of holiday villas in Spain you need to do your homework first. Spend sometime looking at a number of different agents and see just what services they offer to those who choose to use their services. Aim for those that provide complete back up at all times to their clients.

Best Air Travel Tips

Posted: under Travel.
Tags: Travel

by Mary Bush

An air trip can easily be ruined when something goes wrong. Don’t take the risk - use this list of tips to help plan and execute your air trip without mishaps. This is a useful checklist for any air traveler.

Make sure your passport is not about to expire. Most people never think of this until it’s too late. It needs to be valid for at least six months beyond your return dates of travel. Some countries require that your passport be valid for at least six months or you may be refused entry.

Decide what you will be taking onboard as hand luggage and what you will be consigning separately. Do this several days before you plan to travel as it may affect your luggage plans and even the method of booking your flight. Make sure you know what luggage restrictions may apply.

Confirm the flight dates and times for all parts of your trip to make sure that it matches up with your ticket information, hotel bookings and so on.

Make copies of your air travel itinerary and your passport photo page, and leave copies with your workplace and family members or friends. This is a very useful contingency in case you suffer a mishap or in case you need to be contacted in an emergency. Remember to include phone numbers and addresses of where you can be contacted at each stage of your journey.

When traveling internationally make sure that you have any visas that may be required. Verify if there are business or tourist visas and which one best suits the purpose of your travel.

Make photocopies of your passport, visas and any other pertinent travel documents. Pack copies in your luggage as a contingency in case your original documents are lost or stolen.

Bring a copy of your medical history with you. This could simply involve listing any medical conditions, blood type, etc. If you are allergic to any medications, include this information. When traveling internationally try to have these items listed in the local language (if possible).

When you travel abroad, if you are not familiar with the local language it’s a good idea to know some key phrases. Simply prepare a short list of words such as: yes, no, please, thank you, where is, help, and so on. All you need is a small slip of paper showing the translations of a dozen or so words that you may have to use.

Theft is always a concern at airports, but it also happens on flights. Therefore never leave valuables on your seat or near by - take them with you if you leave your seat.

Constantly be aware of your surroundings while in the airport. Many thieves go to airport specifically to steal.

For tips relating to the air trip itself, see Air Travel Safety Secrets (contact details given below). This free ebook reveals extraordinary safety information that airlines don’t tell you. I strongly recommend this free ebook to anybody traveling by air.
